Nutrition Tip

Step 8 – Start Day Eating Carbs, End Day On Protein

Your body’s nutritional processing chemistry changes throughout the day. Carbs eaten early become mainly energy. Carbs eaten later become mainly fat. Protein eaten near sleep becomes mostly muscle.

WHEN you eat is as important to health outcomes as WHAT you eat.
  • A pizza and beer for lunch is not as likely to show up on your waistline as a pizza and beer at 9 pm at the pub.
  • The circadian rhythm regulating sleep hormones also controls hormones that regulate nutrition and food processing.
  • Eating sugar and carbs at the end of the day and near sleep almost guarantees they will be stored as fat.
